Ocean City is an island off the coast of New Jersey bounded on one side by Egg Harbor Bay and on the other by the Atlantic Ocean. As it is completely surrounded by water, it is accessible only by three causeways emminating from the New Jersey mainland proper.
There are many permanent residents, though the town swells in population during the months from May through September. The island attracts those who seek a safe family atmosphere to enjoy the beautiful beaches and bay activities. Fishing is excellent. And surfers can be seen in the challenging summer swells.
Our Boardwalk is famous for its shopping and summer fun for all ages. Bikes are permitted till noon in the summer months. Walking the Boards is always delightful, whether just to ogle or take part in the many activities available. It is miles long and in wonderful condition.
The northend beaches have a breath taking bay view of the Atlantic City night lights. AC is about 30 minutes drive from Ocean City, if one wishes to have more "action" than our quiet little island provides.
The southern part of the island has perhaps the best beaches, but lacks the boardwalk experience. If you wish to consume alcohol, you must venture off island and return with it, for Ocean City is a "dry" town. No alcohol is served anywhere. It has always been that way.
We advise you to come and see for yourself. Season after season you will see some of the same people. Why might that be? Perhaps one of them will tell you when you get here. Or you will catch the magic as well.
